Charging your electric bike This bike uses Lithium batteries. The charger that comes with the bike has a Euro plug and will have to be changed to a UK plug. This is easy to do as there are only 2 wires just cut off the existing plug and replace it with a UK one. The charger has a status light that shows red when it is charging and green when it is charged. Insert the charger cable in to the port on the side of the battery. This can be done when the battery is on or off the bike. There will be a water resistant cover over this charging port that will need to be moved aside before you can insert the charger connection. Plug it into the mains and it should show the relevant charge state. It will normally need charging when you first get it as they are charged to what is called storage rate (between 40-60%). One of the advantages of a lithium battery is it has no memory effect, which means recharging a partially charged lithium battery is not harmful. And partial discharges with frequent recharges are much healthier for a lithium battery than one long deep discharge. High discharge rates contribute to damage and strain on a lithium battery. But by charging lithium ion batteries at a slower charge rate and more frequently, you can expect the life of your lithium battery to last much longer. We cannot not dispatch your order without it.
